Answering the Call

When asked to speak to a graduation class of local leaders, excitement filled my heart. To faithfully carry out ones tasks, a clear calling from God enables the leader to forge ahead. Jesus clearly called men and women to service with these clear and simple words, “Come follow me.” The words demand a response because of the one calling.

Jesus address you as a person. We can think of it as the King addressing a subject. What a privilege to follow Jesus. He knows us intimately and calls us despite whatever inadequacies we might feel. Indeed we don’t have what it takes but He supplies what we need. As the scriptures state, “our adequacy comes from God.”

Jesus calls us personally and enables to do more than we think we can. But answering His call leads us through suffering to Glory. A glorious destiny awaits us as we travel the path of Jesus Christ. These young men face many challenges and perhaps some opposition. Moving forward in the Lord’s service requires remembering the Lord and looking forward to our destiny.

.Yes, Jesus calls men and women, boys and girls, to come and follow Him. What a wonderful privilege, what an adventurous life, what a beautiful home awaits those who answer the call of Jesus.
